Favorite things

I have got so many projects, things swirling around in my head that I want to share. But like always, nothing is COMPLETE yet. I've been slowly working on my Guest bedroom and Bathroom and am anxious to take pictures and show you. But, besides being completely done, the room has become storage for things that I am selling on Craigslist. SO, until then, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite things.

One of my FAVORITE things are plates! I have a major obsession with them!

My husband did this trimwork in my Dining Room with a notched shelf all the way around just so that I could display my pretties. :)

I just hung these plates in my Sunroom right off my Kitchen. I got them all at the thrift store. Still working on some finishing accesories on the buffet.

And dessert tastes even Sweeter on a pretty plate! ;)

I LOVE PLATES!

OK, I think this is called HOBNAIL , but I call it HOB NOB. I bought these on eBay for myself last year and I need to get some more of this collection. They sit in my Dining room hutch. I love the classic white color and the nubby texture.

I LOVE HOB NOB!

One last thing I'll share is this pedestal bowl I found at a local antique store. I love the shape and the green color.

And I Love how it perfectly holds my other Favorite thing, my Sequin Fruit!

I bought the fruit on EBay for only $10. It reminds me of my Grandma Green. She always had a bowl of "fake fruit" laying around. I'm not sure that hers was exactly the same, but its exactly how I remember hers, Pretty and Sparkly! :)

Well, there you have it, a few of my favorite things. And unlike what OPRAH does , you won't find any of these wrapped up for you underneath your chair. But you can scroll up and look at them again. Ha!

RST's

-First of all, I have to tell you that I'm sorry it's been so long since my last post. ( All 3 of you that I beg to read this. HaHa! ) I'm not the most computer savvy and have had trouble uploading pics. Oh, and another thing I'm sorry about is the quality of some of the pictures you're about to see. It seems I'm not too good with a camera either. -

I just wanted to share with you some things that I've gotten over the past few months for F R E E

This is what my sister would call an R.S.T. It stands for Road Side Treasure. You would not believe all the RST's that my sister has in her home. So glad that finally I have some too! :) I found this chair while I was visiting my family in New Jersey and YES, I brought it back home all the way to North Carolina. Chairs like this retail in the hundreds, finished of course. But I plan to re-do this chair this summer. I'm going to paint it and replace the cane webbing with fabric. I'm pretty sure it's gonna go in my guest bedroom and when I finish it I'll be sure to post about it.

This great find my husband brought home for me. He was at a home remodeling job site, the couple was re-doing their master bath and they were just throwing this away. My wonderful husband, knowing how much I love chandeliers, brought it home and hung it in my closet. After having one in my Laundry room the next obvious choice would be for one in my closet, Right? Can a girl have too many chandy's? I think not!

Another remodeling site my husband was at, and I got this! My current screen door was showing some wear, but I wasn't planning on re-placing it just yet. That is I wasn't planning on BUYING a new one just yet. A FREE one?! For sure! This one is much nicer and it actually closes all the way :)

The old door......

The new door...

The next thing I found was this bike. It was sitting on top of someones garbage can! I was so excited when I saw it. I just knew it would be perfect for my little girl, Hannah. And she loves it!

One mans trash is another mans treasure. How true is that! Lovin' all my free stuff and I'm on the lookout for more. You have any RST's in your home??

My Laundry Room

We have lived in this house for over 5 years now and never did I think that I would decorate my laundry room. I'm not sure why I never thought to, I guess I figured it's just a small room at the top of the stairs that pretty much only I see. Well, why should that stop me! Right? So I started thinking about what I wanted to do and I saw it in my head. It's what I call a "vision" :) I'll just be going about my business and all of a sudden I'll just stop in my tracks and see it. I don't get lightheaded or headaches or anything like that. HaHa! O.K. so here is my laundry room!

I keep the main living areas of my house nuetral, so I thought I would paint a bold color in this room. With the green color, I knew I wanted a black and white zebra rug. I can't tell you how long I looked for this rug. Months!! I finally found it at Target for $20 just a couple weeks ago.

I saw the idea for this drying rack in a Ballard Designs catalog. But No Way was I paying what they wanted for it. So my wonderful husband made me one. I absolutlely love it! Not only does it look great but I use it all the time.

I wish I had a window in this room, but I don't. Sooo, I bought this old window frame for $2 at a junkyard. It may not give me fresh air or natural light, but I'm lovin it!

And of course, what is a laundry room without the most perfect crystal chandy? Who knew that doing laundry could feel so glamorous. ;)

Well, thats it, that's my laundry room.

With a few more accesories and maybe even a french door, my vision will be complete. :)

Spring Cleaning

So I thought I would share with you a project that has been on my wish list for quite some time now. Unfortunately it wasn't high priority for me and it kept getting pushed back. Now that it's done, I cant believe it took me that long to start it. It really wasn't hard and it only took a week-end to complete. The project was my garage and as much as I hate to show it, here are some before pictures.

It was bad, I know! It's always kinda been my what I considered my "dirty little secret".
The to-do list!
1- Paint/Epoxy the garage floor
2- Paint the stairs and door black
3- ORGANIZE!! ( the hardest part for sure )
And here it is!

So much better! Now I'm not embarrassed every time the garage opens. :)
